Hoylake Flyfishers

The Club

HFC colour logoHoylake Flyfishers Club offers all year round fishing in spectacular settings. Membership costs are kept to a minimum, nevertheless our members enjoy access to some forty miles of the best river fishing in North Wales. There they face the challenge of wild salmon, sea trout, browns, winter grayling and many coarse species. For the still water fisherman there is a fine selection of delightful lakes, most of them regularly stocked, including the largest natural lake in Wales, Llyn Tegid, at Bala.

Ginger QuillThe club was established in February 1981 and is based on the Wirral. A group of keen local anglers had met while attending fly tying lessons and they decided to carry on pursuing their mutual interests on a permanent basis. Their objective was to provide game angling facilities for the members of their new club and to promote game angling generally. They aimed to foster an informative, friendly atmosphere within the club and to extend this to other associated angling clubs.

Hotpot Supper These aims live on at club meetings which are held every month. There are reports on club progress and fishing conditions. We have professional speakers, videos, fly tying clinics, quizzes, an annual tackle auction, a hot pot supper and other social events. There is also a busy calendar of outings and competitions organised throughout the season with cups and prizes to be won. Above all, the meetings provide members with the opportunity to socialise with others who share the same passion for the sport and who are happy to pass on their tales and skills just as the founder members intended. Fly tying clinics still remain a regular feature.

Angling Trust LogoWe belong to the Angling Trust and their Insurance Scheme through Perkins Slade Ltd. covers our club and all its members comprehensively for most fishing activities. We are in full support of the aims of the Angling Trust and of the Environment Agency.
