Membership and Club Rules


Club membership

runs from the 1st January to the 31st December. For 2012 we have kept the membership tariffs the same as they were for last year.

There are three main types of membership.
(i) Senior Members who have attained the age of 18 years on the 31st December.
(ii) Junior Members who have not attained the age limit for Senior Members.
(iii) Honorary Members appointed at the discretion of the Committee.

The current annual subscription rates are:-
Senior Members £52
Junior Members £26
Honorary Members pay no membership subscription.
There is a one-off joining fee for new members of £10

New members are always made welcome. If you are interested in joining the club or learning more you are invited to come along to one of our monthly meetings and speak to a committee member.

Club Rules


1. The Club meets on the first Tuesday of each month at the Hoylake Rugby Club (H.R.U.F.C.) in the club house.
2. Membership runs from 1st January to 31st December. Each member is issued with a membership card which is not transferable.
3. For existing members renewal subscriptions are due at the November meeting. Members renewing before 31st December will be entitled to a reduction of £5.00. Any member wishing to renew after 31st of March will need to pay a new joining fee.
4. New members joining the club will pay a joining fee in addition to the full membership fee.
5. Juniors below the age of 18 will pay half fees for both membership and joining fee. Whilst fishing club waters juniors must be accompanied by an adult for safety and supervision.
6. All fishing on club waters must be booked in advance either online or through the Booking Secretary during the specified hours. Every member who has fished on club waters must report his results. Catch returns, even nil, must be registered online or with the Booking Secretary. A paper annual return may be submitted at the November meeting.
7. The rules laid down by the associations whose waters are fished will apply to our members when fishing those waters.
8. Members must carry a current membership card on all club waters and an Environment Agency Licence appropriate for the species being fished.
9. A breach of the Environment Agency rules, or of the rules of the riparian owners, or of Hoylake Flyfishers Club rules, will result in immediate cancellation of membership, the return of membership card and no refunds.
10. Any persons participating directly or indirectly in any activity connected with the Hoylake Flyfishers Club do so at their own risk.
11. No dogs or radios are allowed on any waters. Please abide by the country code. Take litter home. Do not disturb or upset farm livestock, particularly around the lambing season in spring.
12. We ask that you abide by these rules which are good fishing protocol in the interest of all our members and of the riparian owners whose property we access.

General rules common to all clubs


Anglers must produce membership card, E.A. licence and bag of fish for inspection when request to do so.
If any damage is caused to fences etc. it must be repaired on the spot and reported to the secretary.
Anglers must close gates and keep to established paths to avoid damage to crops.
Don’t fish one spot longer than 20 minutes if another angler is waiting to fish it, nor fish within 30m of another angler without consent.
Fish only one rod at any time.
Fly fishing only after sunset.
Fish retained must not be sold.
Park with consideration and don’t block farm access.
Take all litter home.
