Hoylake Flyfishers

Club Competitions

Over the years the club has built up a good collection of cups, shields and trophies, many donated by members, which are awarded to winners of various fishing activities. Most of these are presented at the annual Hotpot Supper in March.

Best Salmon Shield goes to the heaviest salmon witnessed and recorded on our waters.

Best Sea Trout Shield goes to the heaviest sea trout witnessed and recorded on our waters.

Best Specimen Fish Trophy could be for any species witnessed and recorded on our waters.

The Aggregate Cup is based on a points system accrued from club outings over the season.

The Knockout Prizes go to the winner, second and third in an elimination contest among members.

President's Cup competitors October 2011

The President's Cup is awarded for the heaviest bag from a one day competition; usually held in October at a commercial fishery.
There is also a Runner-up Shield for this event.

A Fly Tying Competition is organised by Jack Wilson over the winter months.

There is even a prize for the best joke at the Hotpot Supper!

A new trophy has been established in 2011 in memory of the late John Saxton who died on November 1st 2010. This will be awarded to the heaviest grayling caught on the Dee.
